This review is going to be so hard to write - and I'm writer. Do I talk about the theme, the characters, the plot(s), the dialogue? It's all sooooo good. Like, page-turner, lose-sleep, angst-creating good. You want an intricate plot? Got it. You want a clever, slow reveal? Done. You in the mood for steamy sex? Delivered. How about violence? Covered. Oh, so you want great dialogue and back story, and messy emotions so the characters are real and engaging so you feel invested in their lives? Absolutely.No matter what genre you like, this covers it without feeling like it's all over the place or too much. It's an engaging story, very well written and I'm so pissed there's a cliffhanger. I usually don't read cliffhanger books, but this one intrigued me. So unique and in all the best ways. I would recommend this to anyone, but yet I almost feel protective and stingy, like, 'well are you a serious reader, or do you read any crap that comes along?' I feel the audience needs to be worthy of this novel. You wouldn't spend four hours on a gourmet meal, then serve it to a toddler would you? This book is a gourmet meal.

There’s so much to say about this book. It’s suspenseful, sexy, romantic and addicting. The story is so consuming that you can’t turn the pages fast enough. The writing, complexity and depth of the characters is beyond brilliant. And it’s not just a story about romantic love, but sibling love too and what depths you would go to protect that sibling. Alternating between past and present, it revolves around siblings Jessica and Jude Day who, due to tragic circumstances, have to give up their lives and identities, including leaving behind loved ones and start over. They begin again as Jillian and Jackson Knight in the small neighborhood of Peaceful Woods where they meet an interesting cast of characters. Jillian is complex, intelligent compassionate but totally messed-up. Jackson is sexy, sweet and will do anything to protect his sister. To say any more than that would ruin the journey that needs to be taken. Jewel E. Ann has put together a gripping and clever story that I could not stop reading. It a fantastic start to the Jack & Jill series.
This was my first book by Jewel E. Ann and I can not wait to read more of her work! It is always a pleasant surprise to read an author that is new to me and to fall in love with their writing style. This book has every aspect of a broad range of genres. It has comedy (dry humor), suspense, romance, and really Jewel weaves it all together so beautifully!!
This book starts out in a cemetery. Then we meet Jessica and Jude Day. They have to begin their lives anew in a different city with new identities. Jessica and Jude become Jillian and Jackson Knight. They end up in Omaha, Nebraska in a subdivision for older people. Jill and Jack are twins that are 30 years old. You can only imagine the very real laugh out loud moments I had reading this book. Especially since Jill likes to check the mail in a tank top, panties, and her red rain boots! Can you imagine all the older men in the neighborhood setting their clocks to watch her check her mail!
Then there is Jack, very swoon worthy Jack. Who is really a computer geek but a very fit and trim one at that. He really sets the tongues to wagging in their new peaceful neighborhood.
You really must read this to enjoy it for what it is. I really don't even know how to put it in words....I have not been this excited about a series since, well, I can't remember the last time I was this excited. Please invest yourself in this wonderful series. It has so much depth and warmth. There is so much more to it than what it seems to be. Once you invest yourself and start reading it, you will not be able to stop thinking about these beautifully broken characters!!!
I read this book on a referral by another Author that I love and follow. I trusted that whatever it was, it would be amazing based on the other Author's review and man was I in for a wild ride! I had no idea what I was walking into with this book. I'm a fan of dark twisted stories which require more than just a romantic sexual arc to keep my interest and Jewel certainly delivered. Jill was a dark twisted complicated kick-ass female main lead and her story was amazing. I love the detailed character quirks such as the blood fetish but above all I love that the book delivers sexy dirty strong characters that grow throughout the book and change into something unexpected.
Jill and her brother Jack change identities to protect the people the love. Their parents were killed and they are most likely next. Jill is a strong, smart mouth tough chick that may not be as tough as she thinks, and her brother is one sexy male specimen. Together, they definitively stand out in a small town even when they are trying to blend in. Enter some potential love/sex interests and some danger and you get an amazing ride.
If you've never read a Jewel E. Ann book and are looking to get your feet wet, well you've come to the right book! Do it!
